On March 31, 2023, at the “Vittorio Sereni” Library of Melzo, via A. Pasta 43, a documentary exhibition dedicated to Giuseppe Biagi and the TUDOR battery of Melzo, who saved the survivors of the “Red Tent” will be inaugurated at 17.00 of Umberto Nobile’s airship ITALIA, which crashed on the ice of the North Pole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition, curated by our member Massimo Trenta, with the patronage and support of the Municipal Administration of Melzo, will remain open until 8 April 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative, through original documents and unpublished photographic material, represents an attempt to bring to light that forgotten event, which has held great importance in the history of our country. It’s not easy to grasp its connotations today, but if we scroll through the newspaper headlines of the time, the box titles that were dedicated to the events on the front pages, we realize the emotions aroused in people. Indeed, at the time the North Pole represented a sort of myth, which struck collective memory with its mystery and inviolability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
