50 years have passed since that historic July 20, 1969, when man first set foot on the moon, and throughout 2019 there have been numerous events commemorating this event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brugherio also wants to celebrate this significant milestone, and on this occasion, the Circolo Filatelico Numismatico M. Bella, with the sponsorship of the Department of Cultural Policies and Integration of the City of Brugherio and in collaboration with other organizations such as the Associazione Astronomica Milanese and\/or private citizens, will open the exhibition “4 STEPS ON THE MOON – from Leonardo to Houston” free of charge from November 9 to November 24, 2019, in the exhibition spaces of the Library on Via Italia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition will feature philatelic collections related to space, commemorative coins and medals of the moon landing, an authentic NASA astronaut suit made for the Apollo missions, faithful scale reproductions of the Lunar Module, Apollo, Soyuz, and many other space models, high-definition photos of the moon, bibliographies of Italian astronauts, a treatise on light pollution, and much more material, all detailed in the attached brochure.<\/p>\n\n\n

The following four cultural moments are worth noting: \u2022 1st step – Saturday, November 9: Viewing of the Moon with the telescopes of the Associazione Astronomica Milanese. \u2022 2nd step – Saturday, November 16: Philatelic cancellation and lecture on the historical period by professors Alfredo Canavero of the University of Milan and Flavio Rurale of the University of Udine. \u2022 3rd step – Saturday, November 23: Lecture for adults and children by astrophysicist and science communicator Luca Perri from the Planetarium of Milan. \u2022 4th step – Tuesday, December 3: Guided tour and observation of the Moon at the Merate Astronomical Observatory. As Sergio Peraboni, a member of the Circle organizing the event, emphasized, there are several reasons why this exhibition is being held in November, considering that the 50th anniversary of the moon landing already took place on July 20. These reasons are essentially the following: to avoid overlapping with other similar events, the students, to whom the exhibition is mainly addressed, were mostly on vacation in July, and finally, the availability of the Library, where the exhibition is hosted, was only in November.
