Paolo Vaccari’s passing away

The sudden death of Paolo Vaccari, which took place on 10 October, but news of it was received at his behest only on 14 October, took us all by surprise and saddened the entire philatelic world, both Italian and international.

His notoriety in the philatelic world began in 1977, when he turned his passion for philately into a full-time job. An activity that from the commercial sector, with participation in the main Italian and international philatelic conferences and exhibitions, extends to appraisals and certifications and, above all, to publishing activity, with the edition of important catalogs, monographs and the well-known six-monthly magazine “Vaccari Magazine”, now in its thirty-fourth year of publication. To this must be added the well-known digital information newspaper “Vaccari News”, which has also been active for many years now.

Great expert of Postal History, in particular of Ancient States, soon becoming one of the greatest experts, especially for the Duchy of Modena, or rather for his land (not surprisingly in 2002 he was among the architects of the exhibition “Modena 1852-2002 – 150th Anniversary of the Este stamps “), however, he did not disdain to broaden his gaze and give space to other sectors of philatelic collecting, therefore also to aerofilatelia and aeropostal history, through specialized sales and publishing activities.

Our deepest condolences go to Silvia, our partner and supporter, to Valeria and the whole family.
