In recent months, the website of the Institute of Postal Historical Studies “Aldo Cecchi” in Prato has been further enriched with documentation on the Italian postal administration from 1861 onwards. Nearly 6,000 files (images or PDF documents totaling over 60 gigabytes) are freely downloadable. Users can obtain, for example, old official or specialized magazines related to the postal sector without leaving their desks or paying anything. They can visit the website www.issp.po.it and select the section “Sources and Resources.” Here, they can consult the catalogs of the library and the periodical library of the Institute, as well as the documents and publications in print by Poste Italiane.

“Examining the material prepared and classified by ISSP counselor Giorgio Chianetta and ISSP member Beniamino Bordoni can yield numerous insights,” confirms ISSP Director Bruno Crevato-Selvaggi. The range of information covers personnel organization, office operations, technological insights into radiotelegraphic transmissions, postal buildings, and news about post-work activities of postal employees. A part of the archive pertains to vintage philatelic magazines. Indeed, everyone will find ample material for their research.
