The Passing of Cav. Alberto Bolaffi

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cav. Alberto Bolaffi, which occurred in Turin on the night of July 16. A prominent figure in the world of collecting and culture, he indissolubly linked his name to that of the historic family business, founded in Turin in 1890.

Born in 1936, Alberto Bolaffi led the group for over fifty years, giving a modern twist to the sector. Under his leadership, initiatives that became milestones were launched: from the Collector Club, which brought collecting to thousands of enthusiasts, to the first Bolaffi auction house active in numerous fields, and the introduction of “filografia” as a new frontier in collecting.

Throughout his career, he received the highest international accolades, including admission to the prestigious Roll of Distinguished Philatelists, the Tilleard Medal of the Royal Philatelic Society London, and the title of Cavaliere del Lavoro of the Italian Republic. He was also an honorary member of the leading European philatelic academies.

His passion, innovative vision, and tireless dedication transformed collecting into a cultural phenomenon, accessible and appreciated by an ever-growing audience. With his passing, we lose an outstanding figure, but the legacy of a life devoted entirely to spreading beauty and knowledge remains.

To the family of Cav. Alberto Bolaffi, we extend our most sincere condolences.
