In November 2024, the Italian Association of Postal History (AISP) and the Royal Hispanic Academy of Philately and Postal History (RAHFHP) signed a collaboration agreement. The two organizations agreed, among other things, to establish mutual relationships aimed at developing cooperative activities aimed at promoting activities and projects for the dissemination of philately and postal history in Hispanic and Italian territories in all their many aspects (historical, technical, legal, administrative, economic, social, artistic).

As part of this collaborative relationship, our secretary, Flavio Riccitelli, also a member of the AISP, was invited to participate in the academic conference held in Madrid on November 22, 2025, to present on the topic: Spanish mail to South America transported by LATI via Seville.
In his presentation, Flavio Riccitelli, a longtime LATI collector whose collection was awarded gold at the LONDON 2022 international exhibition, presented a study on Spanish mail transported by the Italian company to South America. He first highlighted the circumstances that led to Seville being chosen as the first port of call on the route to South America and a connection point to Lisbon, which in turn serving as an interface between the Italian route and Pan Am’s route to North America. He then analyzed some examples of mail from Spain, including the Canary Islands, and from some Spanish dependencies (Spanish Morocco, Rio de Oro), for various destinations.

A detailed explanatory document on the topic has also been prepared and made available to Academy members. Interested members can request it from the secretariat by writing to
