The event is organized on the occasion of the 91st anniversary of the first Transatlantic Cruise of General Italo Balbo, which left Orbetello on December 17th, 1930 and arrived in Rio de Janeiro on January 15, 1931. The participating squadrons were four:

  • Red Squadron, I-MARI aircraft, under the command of Captain Giuseppe Marini;
  • White Squadron, I-AGNE aircraft, under the command of Captain Alfredo Agnesi;
  • Green Squadron, I-LONG aircraft, under the command of Major Ulisse Longo.

The participating planes were 14, but 12 arrived in Rio de Janeiro.

For the occasion, four special postcards will be issued in memory of the event, which can be stamped and sent through the post office of the Italian Post Office in Grosseto, which will operate from 11.00 to 15.00. During this event, this office will use a special figured postmark made by Mario Regina on all correspondence received.
