The 51st Aerophilately Day has concluded with considerable success, thanks to the organizational and logistical support of the Vastophil “Rino Piccirilli” Philatelic-Numismatic Society, as part of the concurrent national exhibition, now in its 43rd year.
As you already know from the previous issue of the magazine and the latest message sent to all members, the official presentation of the new Longhi catalog took place in Vasto on Saturday, June 14th, and the general meeting of our Association was held on Sunday, June 15th. For the contents of the meeting, please refer to the attachment in the latest communication. The guest of honor on both occasions was Mrs. Longhi, to whom we extend our sincere thanks.
The beautiful and original collections on display attracted considerable interest. Those from our “Aerophilately Day” were displayed in their entirety, while those from the national exhibition were displayed in the “one more picture” format and could be viewed in their entirety via computers installed on site. All this is enriched by the great prestige offered by the rooms of the Davalos Palace museum, within which the exhibition paintings have been mounted.

There was commemorative material from AIDA and the Vastophil Philatelic-Numismatic Circle, with one cancellation provided by us and two cancellations by the Circle, accompanied by several postcards. The attendance was also modest, in keeping with national events of this type, considering that other events were taking place, including the Federation’s national assembly.

On this occasion, the single issue of the 51st Aerophilately Day was published, approximately 200 pages long, which detailed the collections on display. This work was printed with the contribution of the Vastophil Philatelic-Numismatic Society, so we purchased a limited number of copies, which we have currently reserved for members participating in the event with their collections and for those attending.
Those interested in purchasing it can contact Giuseppe Galasso, president of the Vastophil Philatelic-Numismatic Society, directly at the email address: direttore.notiziario@cift.club. The cost is €15.00 + €5.00 shipping. Those who request it will also receive the Vastophil 2025 Single Issue, published by the aforementioned Society.
Regarding the national exhibition, we’re pleased to recall the convivial atmosphere experienced during the awards ceremony on Saturday, June 14, held in an elegantly appointed room at the Hotel Acquario in Vasto Marina. On this occasion, we had the opportunity to attend the awards ceremony for the competition collections, and we are very honored to highlight the excellent result achieved by our member Nicola Valcarcell, who won the Grand Competition Prize with his collection “The Italian Cruise of the GRAF ZEPPELIN L.Z. 127 Airship – May 29/30, 1933 – A Study in Aeropostale History,” earning 91 points. Our congratulations go to him.

Our association was also awarded on this occasion by the Vastophil Philatelic-Numismatic Circle, and so it is wonderful to share this further recognition with all our members.

In addition to the usual special cancellation, our association has also created a special postcard dedicated to the theme of aerophilatelic literature, once again created by the artist Mario Magnatti, from Gaeta (LT). We offer, in addition to the definitive version, a curious dynamic reproduction of its creation, at the very moment in which the artist was collecting the ideas that were suggested to him on the theme to be commemorated.

As usual, Poste Italiane participated with a branch post office, open for the three days of the exhibition (June 13-15), using three specially prepared special cancellations. The branch post offices of San Marino and the SMOM also provided dedicated special cancellations, bringing the total number of special cancellations available to six during the three days of the event.
