The Fédération Internationale de Philatélie (FIP) recently made two important decisions, in response to the continuing evolution of philatelic exhibitions.
The first decision concerns the “Open Class”, an exhibition approach whose popularity has steadily increased over time, since it was first accepted in FIP exhibitions several years ago. The formation of an FIP Commission for the “Open Class” has been approved and the members of the FIP have been invited to appoint, by December 31st 2020, the delegates who will form the new Commission.
With the second decision the question was answered whether the collections judged in the National Virtual Exhibitions can be accepted in the FIP exhibitions. Well, in the statement published on the FIP website, on November 19, 2020, it is stated that “a Vermeil medal at the national virtual exhibitions held in 2020-2022 will be accepted for the FIP world exhibitions only in 2021 and 2022, on an experimental basis”.
