A new USFI’s book

The editorial project that the USFI, through its president Beniamino Bordoni, strongly supported in 2022, has finally materialized. The new book “A masked stamp – Philatelic authors and the pandemic” is therefore ready. This is a unique issue inspired by the covid-19 pandemic, in which the experiences and reflections of forty USFI members are collected, with philatelic and historical-postal insights, but not only.

The very original title of the book was suggested by Claudio Baccarin, who played with words inspired by the famous opera “Un ballo in maschera” by Giuseppe Verdi.

The volume, in A4 format, consists of 260 pages, 71 of which are dedicated to a review of covid-themed emissions, reproducing approximately 1,500 emissions from 118 different countries. The description of the theme is developed in an original way, dealing with the different aspects that have characterized this long period of pandemic, not yet completely overcome, which has changed our way of life. As can be seen from the summary of the topics covered, the contribution offered by air vehicles could not be overlooked, especially in the transport of vaccines. This specific topic was treated by Flavio Riccitelli, USFI member, but also secretary of our association, with an article entitled “The transport of vaccines by drones”, attached below, in which the origin and development of this is analyzed modern aircraft and its multiple applications, especially in the civil field and, in particular, in the health field.
